US industrialists and US President, holidaying in Maryland, USA, in March 1921. From left: US industrialist Henry Ford (1863-1947), US inventor Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), US President Warren Gamaliel Harding (1865-1923), and US industrialist Harvey Samuel Firestone (1868-1938). Ford, Edison and Firestone, the leaders of US industry, went on camping trips and styled themselves 'The Vagabonds'. The trips showcased new technology and were reported by the media. They were joined in March 1921 in Maryland by the newly elected US President Harding (in office 1921 to 1923). This photograph is from the Harris and Ewing photographic studio.
